Sensate Focus is a groundbreaking treatment tool first developed by Virginia Johnson and William H. Masters (aka Masters and Johnson) in the 1960s, and has evolved considerably over the decades alongside the sex therapy field. Today, Sensate Focus is an essential tool for sex therapists, pelvic physical therapists, and other mind/body care providers who want to treat and support common sexual difficulties in an embodied way.
EDST’s Sensate Focus 3-part series provides tools, strategies, and a framework for engaging with clients who are struggling with sexual pain, erectile dysfunction, orgasm challenges, early ejaculation, low arousal, vaginismus, and other common difficulties that traditional treatment methods often can’t address. Sensate Focus can also be an effective tool for supporting clients healing from sexual trauma and attachment wounding, and needing help letting go of the narratives, expectations, and intellectualization that disconnect them from their bodies — and often also their partners.
Sensate Focus involves touch-oriented, full-sensory exercises that clients complete as “homework” at home in-between sessions with their clinicians. Shifting away from genital-centered, goal-oriented sex and focusing instead on slow, mindful sensory experiences, Sensate Focus helps clients build safety, connection, and familiarity with the body’s capacity to experience pleasure and play.

Following purchase, you will be added to each cohort. One week before the start date, you will be emailed a link to the course folder and the Zoom link to attend.
This is a live interactive training designed for synchronous (live, real-time) participation. It will be recorded for students of the EDST Sex Therapy Certification. If you are not an EDST student, you will not be given access to the recording.
If you are attending in order to collect CEs, please note:
- To receive CEs, you must be present for the entirety of each course. For example, if the course is 2 hours and offers 2 CEs, you must be present for the full 2 hours in order to receive those CEs.
- We do not provide partial CE credit for partial attendance. If you do not attend the full course, you will not receive CEs.
- If you are 15 mins or more late to the course, you will not be eligible to receive CEs.
- If you leave 15 mins or more early before the course ends, you will not be eligible o receive CEs.
- If you are 15 mins or more late to the course and not eligible for CEs, you are not entitled to a refund.
Cancelations and refunds:
This is a live training! If you are NOT attending as part of the EDST certification, please note that this event's recording will not be made available to you if you do not attend live.
If you are NOT an EDST certification student and learn that you can not attend live:
Cancellations can be made for a full refund up until 7 days of the start date.
Cancellations made within 7 days of the training start date are not eligible for a refund.
If you need to cancel, please email edst@everyonedeservessexed.com. Your refund will be processed with 72 hours and (according to our billing processor) will take 5-10 business days to show up on your statement.
